The Tulane Concert Band presents "Remembrance, Resilience, Rebirth"
US Freedom Pavilion: The Boeing Center

The Tulane Concert Band celebrates the strength of the human spirit with an April 17 performance at noon at The National WWII Museum. The concert—Remembrance Resilience, Rebirth—honors the 10th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina and significant events of World War II, and embraces the broader communal themes of fate, reflection, and healing. The repertoire includes Victory at Sea by Richard Rogers, Band of Brothers by Michael Kamen, Amazing Grace arranged by Frank Ticheli, selections from Carmina Burana by Carl Orff, and Berceuse and Finale from the Firebird ballet by Igor Stravinsky. A special feature composition—Promising Skies, by Robert W. Smith—is a symphonic tone poem recreating and commemorating the Katrina experience, commissioned and first performed in 2009 by the US Marine Corps Band of New Orleans.

The Tulane Concert Band is under the baton of Director of Bands Barry Spanier. For more information, call 504-528-1944 x 463.

NOTICE: Andrew Higgins Drive is temporarily closed to vehicles and pedestrians between Camp Street and Magazine Street for the construction of the new Founders Plaza at The National WWII Museum. Concert attendants should enter through The American Sector Restaurant + Bar on Magazine Street.
