Special Event: Voices of War - Japanese American WWII Veterans
Stage Door Canteen

Historian Tom Gibbs will share the stories from the Museum’s oral history collection of Japanese American combat veterans from the 100th Infantry Battalion, the 442nd Regimental Combat Team and the Military Intelligence Service. Following his presentation, Curator Meg Roussel will introduce "VVV: In Their Own Words," a 27-minute film that weaves together the oral histories of 10 Varsity Victory Volunteer veterans to tell their remarkable story. The interviews were culled from the Go For Broke National Education Center's Hanashi Oral History collection which includes over 1,100 interviews, the largest compilation of interviews of Japanese American veterans who served in segregated units during World War II. A reception precedes the event at 5:00 pm. Reservations are required. For more information, call 504-528-1944 x 229.
