UNDERFIRE: The Untold Story of Pfc Tony Vaccaro

5:00 p.m. Reception  |  6:00 p.m. Screening  |  7:15 p.m. Q&A with filmmaker

This documentary, produced by HBO Films and Dog Green Productions, tells the story of a soldier in the 83rd Infantry Division who photographed the entire war in Europe from Normandy to Berlin—retaining the negatives to over 8,000 images—and only recently presented his work to the public. Tony Vaccaro's photos are arguably the greatest and largest individual image grouping of World War II by one man. After the war, he became a renowned fashion and personality photographer for LIFE and Look magazines. Filmmaker Max Lewkowicz will introduce the free screening of UNDERFIRE and take questions from the audience once it concludes.
