Weekend Wargame: Sapun Mountain, Crimea

The Crimea has been considered one of the most strategic locations in the world since ancient times. From there, during WWII, Soviet and then German forces launched air and naval attacks to support their operations. The Battle for Sapun Mountain closed out the final battles for Sevastopol, Crimea during Soviet offensive operations in April, 1944. Soviet troops — sensing overall victory in the war and needing to eliminate the German threat from Crimea — engaged "kampfgruppe" of German defenders thrown together to stop their advance. Join us for a weekend wargame recreation of this battle using Flames of War rules. Free and open to the public. For more information call 504-528-1944 x 333.
