Larry Decuers presents "The Decision to Use the Bomb"

Using atomic weapons against Japan remains one of the most controversial decisions of the 20th century. What influenced President Truman's decision? We will examine the opposing viewpoints of the scientific community's stance on the use of the weapon without warning, and a look at the grim realities and projected loss of American lives the proposed conventional amphibious assault against the Japanese mainland would have cost.

Dinner with a Curator is a seasonal series in which Museum staff and guests discuss a featured topic related to World War II while enjoying a delicious three-course dinner. All dinners catered by The American Sector restaurant. Space is limited and reservations are required.
