Film Screening - "In Times of War: The Ray Parker Story"
Solomon Victory Theater

Filmmakers Mark and Christine Bonn introduce their award-winning short documentary. Raymond Parker joined the Air Force the day after the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor. On his 10th mission, his plane was shot down and the crew had to bail out. He survived the parachute jump to be quickly captured by the Germans. Interned deep in German territory, he was called upon by the American commanding officer to secretly write the underground newspaper — which he eagerly did. Through use of a hidden radio his paper was able to bring hope and strength to the other 9,000 men held captive there, with stories of D-Day, liberation of Paris and finally, the German surrender. Join filmmakers Mark and Christine Bonn as they share his story and what they learned while making this film that has won multiple awards at film festivals nationwide.
