New Showing: "The Big Broadcast of 1938"
BB's Stage Door Canteen

UPDATE: The 7/23 film screening has changed from Some Like It Hot (1939) to The Big Broadcast of 1938 starring Bob Hope, W.C. Fields, Leif Erickson, Dorothy Lamour, and Shirley Ross.

The S.S. Gigantic competes with the S.S. Colossal in a luxury liner race from New York to France. W.C. Fields is S.B. Bellows, the bumbling brother of the owner of the Gigantic who accidentally wrecks the sophisticated engine of his sibling's ship, built by brilliant engineer Bob Hayes (Leif Erickson). Meanwhile, radio entertainer Buzz Fielding (Bob Hope), aboard the Gigantic with his girlfriend, Dorothy (Dorothy Lamour), is hoping to win so he can pay alimony to his three ex-wives.

The story of how Bob Hope gave levity and laughter to troops during one of the most brutal conflicts in human history is a crucial component of the history of the war—and a demonstration of how humanity can shine through in the darkest of times. The National WWII Museum is proud to have this program supported by the Bob & Dolores Hope Foundation.
