The Butterfly Project Family Workshop
Arizona/Missouri Meeting room and Classroom

Children ages 8–12 are invited to join The National WWII Museum for an afternoon workshop designing ceramic butterflies with Holocaust survivor Ela Weissberger. Ela will share stories from her childhood spent at Theresienstadt concentration camp, as well as her participation in the original Brundibar children’s opera performed there. She will then join attendees in glazing a ceramic butterfly through The Butterfly Project, whose mission it is to create 1.5 million butterflies to memorialize the children lost during the Holocaust. Each child’s completed butterfly will then be incorporated in a temporary public display at the Museum. This workshop provides children with a rare opportunity to display their artwork. Space is very limited, so register your family today!

This workshop is designed for children ages 8–12. Advanced registration is required. One adult per three children must attend.

Cost: Free for children and accompanying adults. Regular Museum admission applies for families who wish to spend the day at the Museum.
