Double Victory: African Americans in WWII

During WWII, African Americans fought for a Double Victory, one over fascism abroad and one over discrimination and inequality at home. Meet Pearl Harbor hero Dorie Miller, the Montford Point Marines, and the Tuskegee Airmen. Through the songs of blues singer Josh White, learn about the struggle for racial equality in war factories and in the barracks. Trace the historic path from segregation to integration in the military and beyond. Participants will encounter museum artifacts, primary sources, songs, and oral histories. Students will be able to submit questions throughout the webinar and teachers will receive classroom materials to supplement the information presented. Perfect for students in grades 7 – 12.

An additional Webinar is scheduled from 9:00 am – 10:00 am CST on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 to accommodate all time zones.
