1945: To the Bitter End
70th Anniversary of WWII Conference Series

Presented by Tawani Foundation in association with Pritzker Military Museum & Library

If you would like to purchase tickets for the 2015 International Conference on WWII, please visit our Conference only page.

Join us in November 2015 as we explore the final year of WWII, covering topics from the Battle of the Bulge to the dropping of the atomic bombs.

For many people who found themselves in the midst of WWII, as the Germans and Japanese refused to surrender, 1945 brought the realization of "hell on earth." The final year of the war, which saw the Battle of the Bulge, the discovery of concentration camps throughout Europe, the firebombings of Dresden and Tokyo, the Battle of Berlin and the "to the last man" Japanese defenses at Iwo Jima and Okinawa, culminated with the dropping of the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. While the Allied nations and people celebrated victory, the Allied leaders sought to implement the postwar agenda they had planned during the war.

Sampling of Topics:

  • The Battle of the Bulge

  • The Battle of Manila

  • The Air War: The Effects an the Ethics

  • Planning the Postwar World
