Join the Museum for an Online Learning Series exploring Japan's rise to power, the attack on Pearl Harbor, and key events of the early days of the Pacific War. With four live sessions accessible right from your computer, including the Museum's 75th Anniversary Commemoration, participants will see a variety of compelling sources and hear from a panel of experts to learn more about why and how the attack happened, and the challenges the United States faced after December 7, 1941.

All registrants will receive the recording of the program, even if you are unable to watch live with us.

Part One: The Japanese Attack on Pearl Harbor: A Reinterpretation

With author Jonathan Parshall

Join Jonathan Parshall, co-author of Shattered Sword: The Untold Story of the Battle of Midway and writer for the Naval College War Review, for a discussion on the Japanese preparations for the attack on Pearl Harbor. Japan was equipped with arguably the most powerful navy in the world, including a sophisticated carrier strike force and topnotch aviators. Parshall will review not only the creation of a cohesive tactical unit, but also the preparations and furious training for the infamous strike.
