Auditions for "Always . . . Patsy Cline"
Stage Door Canteen

3:00 pm – 6:00 pm (by appointment only)

Both roles are open. Seeking:

Patsy Cline

Mid–20s to 30. Seeking singer/actress with ability to mimic the vocal stylings and country accent of Patsy Cline, the legendary country singer who died while still very young in a plane crash in the early 1960s. Because the show is based on a true story and Patsy Cline is an iconic figure with a distinct and recognizable sound, the role requires an excellent singer/actress who can look and sound like Patsy Cline, recreating her glottal, trill, and the yodel-like delivery of her many hits including Crazy, Sweet Dreams, I Fall to Pieces, and others. Must be able to portray the character's key qualities of warmth, humor, vulnerability, and toughness.

Louise Seger

Seeking excellent actress to portray housewife Louise Seger, a tough, no-nonsense Texas gal who idolizes Patsy Cline and, through a chance meeting, develops a lasting friendship with her "favorite star." This character is the driving force of the play, with numerous monologues and narrations between the live musical numbers performed by Patsy and the band. Her delivery ranges from folksy to razor sharp, all in the idiom of a 1950s Southern woman who is equally at home in the kitchen and out "honky-tonkin'." Requires an excellent actress with great comic timing, good Texas dialect, and ability to sing some duets with Patsy.

Based on the true story of Patsy Cline's life and her friendship with Houston housewife Louise Seger, Always . . . Patsy Cline features great Patsy Cline hits such as Walkin' after Midnight, Back in Baby's Arms, Sweet Dreams, Blue Moon of Kentucky, Your Cheatin' Heart, Crazy, and more.
