Documentary Screening: "Tiger Brides: Memories of Love and War from the GI Brides of Tiger Bay"

6:00 p.m. Documentary screening  |  7:15 p.m. Q&A with filmmaker Dr. Valerie Hill-Jackson and GI bride Jeana Norman Lassiter

Learn the story of the girls from Tiger Bay, in Cardiff, Wales, who fell in love with and married black American soldiers stationed in the UK during World War II. Jeana Norman, a GI bride who appears in the film, will join us to share her experiences with the audience. Dr. Valerie Hill-Jackson won a Fulbright scholarship for research on the subject, and she will hold a Q&A session following the screening.

Fighting for the Right to Fight: African American Experiences in WWII will be open from 5:00 p.m.–6:00 p.m. Please join us before the screening to view the special exhibit.
