Independence Day at the Museum

    Independence Day Naturalization Ceremony

    US Citizenship and Immigration Services’ (USCIS) New Orleans District Director Cindy Gomez will administer the Oath of Allegiance to America’s newest citizens during a special naturalization ceremony.

    The 50 citizenship candidates originate from the following 23 countries: Algeria, Bangladesh, Belarus, Canada, China, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Germany, Ghana, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, India, Mexico, Morocco, Pakistan, Philippines, Romania, Russia, South Korea, Sweden, Syria, and Vietnam. The event is open to the public.

    This ceremony is part of USCIS’s annual celebration of Independence Day. This year, USCIS celebrates our nation’s 238th birthday as the agency welcomes nearly 9,000 new US citizens during more than 100 naturalization ceremonies across the country from June 30 to July 4.

    To celebrate Independence Day, the New Orleans Concert Band (NOCB) will be performing patriotic favorites, symphony classics and show tunes at a free concert that is open to the public.

    The concert will feature patriotic favorites, some Broadway classics, selections from Gershwin, Berlin, and even Billy Joel, as well as a compilation of Disney soundtracks.
