Film Screening - NOVA "D-Day's Sunken Secrets"
Solomon Victory Theater

5:00 pm Reception
6:00 pm Film Screening
8:00 pm Panel and Q&A

On June 6, 1944, the Allies launched the D-Day invasion against the heavily defended Normandy beaches to liberate Europe from the Nazis. Throughout the operation, hundreds of ships sank while running the gauntlet of mines and bunkers, creating one of the world’s largest underwater archaeological sites. Now, 70 years later, teams of historians, archaeologists and specialists use submersibles, underwater robots and the latest 3D mapping tools to discover, identify and plot the relics on the sea floor.

NOVA, The National WWII Museum and WYES invite the public to a free screening of NOVA "D-Day's Sunken Secrets" on Thursday, May 22 at The National WWII Museum’s Solomon Victory Theater.

Refreshments at 5:00 pm. Welcome remarks and film introduction will begin promptly at 6:00 pm. Following the two-hour screening, Museum Director of Collections and Exhibits, Tom Czekanski, and Higgins Industries Historian and Author, Jerry Strahan, as well as individuals featured in or involved in the making of the film will offer a Q&A with the audience.
