Lagniappe Lecture - "Sicily 1943: Coalition Warfare Patton vs. Montgomery vs. the Wehrmacht" by Captain Rick Jacobs
H. Mortimer Favrot Orientation Center

In July 1943 a three-sided battle took place in Sicily between the US Seventh Army, British Eighth Army and the XIV Panzer Corps. The failure of Allied high command foreshadowed the difficulties that blossomed in Normandy a year later. On Sicily it allowed 60,000 German troops to hold up 450,000 Allied soldiers for 38 days, then escape to Italy with their equipment and their wounded. Join Captain Rick Jacobs as he discusses Montgomery’s inept campaigning, Patton’s brilliant circumvention and German tactical genius. For more information call 504-528-1944 x 229.
