Teacher Workshop
Education Classroom and Special Exhibition Gallery

Make Martin Luther King Jr. Day a day on rather than a day off by joining The National WWII Museum for a FREE professional development workshop on the current special exhibit, Fighting for the Right to Fight: African American Experiences in WWII. The workshop will introduce middle and high school teachers to the major individuals and themes related to African Americans' role in World War II and provide them with tools and resources for teaching about this critical time in history. In addition to enhancing their content knowledge, teachers will leave the workshop with the ability to implement a Common Core-aligned unit consisting of multiple primary source-based lessons. Covered topics will include African American attitudes about, and responses to, wartime racial discrimination; African American experiences in the segregated armed forces; and the war's impact upon the Civil Rights Movement. Teachers will also receive a curator-led tour of the special exhibit. Lunch and all classroom materials will be provided.

Space is limited, so register today
